Soak your dog from head to toe with warm water. Be sure to test the temperature on your skin before putting it on your pet. Avoid the eyes and inside of the ears. Apply shampoo to your pet's coat, avoiding the eyes, face, and ears. Create a lather, applying small amounts of shampoo at a time. Massage, rub and scrub your pet for several minutes. Use your fingers, just like shampooing your own hair. Apply a stream of water to the coat, avoiding the eyes and ears. Rinse all the shampoo thoroughly out of your pet's coat. After initially rinsing your pet with warm water, use lukewarm or slightly cool water in order to help remove shampoo residue and close pores.
